Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Nigeria face significant challenges, including inadequate shelter, food insecurity, and limited access to healthcare. In Dikwa Local Government Area (LGA), Borno State, IDP camps have become a focal point for humanitarian efforts. However, public perception of these camps often influences the level of support and engagement they receive. Public relations (PR) plays a crucial role in shaping public attitudes by highlighting the needs of IDPs, promoting empathy, and fostering community support. According to Ali and Musa (2023), strategic PR campaigns can effectively bridge the gap between IDPs and the public, ensuring sustained humanitarian assistance.
